Visit to Charitable Exhibition dedicated to the Tibetan Thanga (Hong Kong)

03/22/2016

Today we were in Hong Kong to visit the charitable exhibition dedicated to the Tibetan community. The event was organized by Celestial Legacy and it was exhibiting beautiful Tibetan Thanga: mandalas and different painting of the various deities of the Tibetan culture. Garie lo, who was part of the organizational team, gave me a wonderful mandala, which depicts the famous mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, the six syllables mantra. It is believed that this mantra (prayer), pronounced out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect as saying it and for this reason it is often carved into stones and placed where people can see them.

Thanks to Garie Lo, Celestial Legacy and to Twinkle Chi for this very deeply touching moment
